Each volunteer will receive a fabulous custom tee shirt, a goodie bag and a light lunch. (min 3 hour commitment) BOATERS: Boaters must pick up a separate race instruction packet. Please contact swimlasvegas at gmail.com 8K Kayakers: Arrive at SUNSET VIEW/SCENIC OVERLOOK by 5:45 a.m. Kayak along side swimmers guiding them to the finish line, nearly 5 miles away! You are responsible for their drinks, nutrition & protecting them from boat traffic. We advise that you stay on the outside( lake side) of your swimmer at all times. You will need to ask your swimmer where they prefer you be. TIME LINE Registration Opens at 5:00 a.m. Safety Briefing: 6:30 a.m. at the shoreline ( 1/4 mile hike from the parking lot) Swimmer Safety Briefing: 6:45 a.m. RACE START: USMS: 7 a.m. USAT: 7:01 a.m. USAT YOUTH: 7:03 a.m. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, a hat and keep your shoes on until you enter your boat. You'll want to bring plenty of hydration/snacks as well as sunscreen and YOUR PHONE. Program 702-498-2316 in your phone to reach the race director in case of emergency. In the event of an emergency, stay with your swimmer and reach shore. Patrol boats will be on the course. Boulder Beach Kayakers/SUP: Arrive at BB by 7:30 a.m. Patrol the swim beach for swimmers in distress. Event is over at 11:30 a.m. Stay for lunch! OTHER: Other opportunities to support our world class athletes include: registration, body marking & site break down. However you must volunteer a minimum of 3 hours to get one! We mostly need kayakers. If you don't have one, let us know as we will have extra on site. DIRECTIONS: TO START OF 8K FROM HENDERSON: Take Lake Mead Pkwy into the Park. Continue straight for 10 miles. On your LEFT you will see a sign for SUNSET VIEW/SCENIC OVERLOOK. TURN LEFT. Drop off your kayak and check in at the reg tent to be paired with your swimmer. FROM BOULDER CITY ENTRANCE: Enter the park and approx 7 miles from the toll gate, you will see a sign on your RIGHT: SUNSET VIEW SCENIC OVERLOOK. Turn RIGHT. Drop off your kayak and check in at the reg tent to be paired with your swimmer. PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE YOUR KAYAK DROPPED OFF AT THE 8K START AND PARK AT BOULDER BEACH.
